Community Driven Impact

We are committed to a stronger democracy

Established in 2023 with generous funding from the Houston Endowment, The Institute for Voter & Civic Engagement stands as a leading authority dedicated to fostering civic engagement and voter participation at Texas Southern University (TSU). With a core mission to empower students, faculty, staff, and the broader community, the institute serves as a central hub for activating individuals in the pursuit of democratic ideals. Our motivation stems from a commitment to amplify TSU’s role as a vital infrastructure for community empowerment, leveraging the power of active civic participation and voter engagement to drive meaningful change. Through initiatives like our NextGen Service Corp Program, we aim not only to cultivate a culture of civic responsibility but also to propel our students into impactful public service roles, ensuring a brighter future for our communities.
